Library of Things
Providing access to practical, hands-on items to learn new skills, explore areas of interest or help with everyday tasks.GLADL is excited to launch our very own “Library of Things!” The collection contains practical items like bike locks, tech equipment, ready to go packs for a variety of ages, ukuleles, and science kits. More to be added!
With the help of a grant from Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) – Region 4 and Science Kits for Public Libraries (SKPL), GLADL’s Library of Things contains not only fun science kits so that patrons of all ages can be citizen scientists to help contribute data for on-going projects, but kits to learn more about coding, electronics, and electricity. This grant from SKPL allows the library to offer real science equipment like a sky meter, air monitor, and the tech for kids to learn how things work with hands-on activities in science– that is what sparks a kid’s interest!
GLADL has also been very fortunate to have the assistance of Music is the Foundation to offer two Ukuleles for checkout. Ukuleles are fun to play and it is one of the easiest instruments to get started with. After just learning a few chords you will be able to play many different songs.
