LIBRARY ASSISTANT

The Grand Ledge Area District Library is looking for a friendly and resourceful individual to join our staff. Library Assistants are responsible for a wide variety of clerical activities and considerable communication with, and service to, library patrons to ensure a positive library experience. This position includes managing the circulation desk during assigned shifts, assisting patrons with a variety of technology needs, shelving and shelf reading of library materials, and other tasks as assigned.

Schedule: Some evening and weekend hours required. Current schedule: Wed 10am-6pm; Thurs. 1-5pm; Fri. 9am-5pm.  Weekend hours are scheduled on a rotation basis.

Education & Experience: Education normally acquired through the completion of a high school degree. Previous library, retail, or clerical experience with a large degree of interactions with the general public preferred. Must be able to file in alphabetical and numeric order and perform detail work with a high level of accuracy. Considerable experience with Windows, Internet browsers, and web applications desired as well as ability to quickly learn new software programs.

Wage $12.00/hr.

 

LIBRARY ASSISTANT – WEB SUPPORT

The Grand Ledge Area District Library is looking for a friendly and resourceful individual to join our staff. Library Assistants are responsible for a wide variety of clerical activities and considerable communication with, and service to, library patrons to ensure a positive library experience. This position includes managing the circulation desk during assigned shifts, assisting patrons with a variety of technology needs, shelving and shelf reading of library materials, and other tasks as assigned

This position includes responsibilities assisting with the maintenance and development of the library’s webpage and digital content.  Tasks include copy writing, WordPress page creation, developing forms, and assisting with public surveys and newsletters.

Schedule: Some evening and weekend hours required. Current schedule: Mon. 5-9pm; Tues. 1-5pm; plus 12 hours to be scheduled for web support and checkout desk duties.  Weekend hours are scheduled on a rotation basis

Education & Experience: Education normally acquired through the completion of a high school degree. Experience with WordPress required.  Familiarity with ADA design requirements and copy writing ability preferred.  Previous library, retail, or clerical experience with a large degree of interactions with the general public preferred. Must be able to file in alphabetical and numeric order and perform detail work with a high level of accuracy. Considerable experience with Windows, Internet browsers, and web applications desired as well as ability to quickly learn new software programs.

Wage $12.00 – $14.00/hr. (depending on experience)
