This light meter kit helps you collect data about our night sky brightness.  Be a part of an international citizen science campaign to raise public awareness of the impact of light pollution.  Citizen scientists are invited to measure & submit their night sky brightness observations.  Learn more about Globe at Night from SciStarter.org

Kit includes:

  • Handheld “Sky Quality Meter” measures the brightness of the night sky in magnitudes per square arcsecond (includes one 9V battery,)
  • High Power One Mode Red LED Flashlight for astronomy, aviation and night observation.
  • 2-sided Planisphere
  • Project guide information
  • Globe at Night Data Sheet — this is the data that you will be collecting — enter the data online at https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/

Before you return the kit, please complete the survey for Citizen Science Kit Feedback (https://scistarter.org/library-surveys). Completing this survey is also an act of citizen science! Your contribution will help us improve the kits and develop new resources.
