🌿 In Remembrance of Suzanne Bowles

Suzanne Elizabeth Bowles began her service to the Grand Ledge community in 1982, when she was appointed Head Librarian of the Grand Ledge Public Library. Though new to the position, she quickly expressed her enthusiasm for both the staff and the community, noting early on that “the staff is very good and the community is great.” From the start, Suzanne approached her role thoughtfully and collaboratively, focusing first on learning about the needs and character of the community before making changes.

Suzanne went on to serve for more than thirty years as the Head Librarian for the Grand Ledge Area District Library, where her steady leadership, professionalism, and love of books shaped library services for generations of patrons. She was known for her respect for staff, her commitment to public service, and her belief that the library should reflect and support the community it serves. An avid reader herself, Suzanne embodied the spirit of lifelong learning that libraries represent.
