Learn Coding!
Learn Python, JavaScript, HTML and more with Fiero Code
Brought to you by GLADL
Are you someone who wants to learn how to code? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that our library provides free access to Fiero Code, a learn-to-code software program for kids, teens and adults!
Through fun and engaging activities, Fiero Code helps students learn the coding skills necessary to build websites, video games, apps and more. Coding languages include: Scratch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL.
As coders complete each Fiero Code workout and mission, they unlock gear and other items that they can use to customize their personal avatar. Older teens and adults can use the Pathways feature to learn useful skills, such as website building or game design. Best of all, Fiero Code includes a feature that allows coders to share their completed projects with parents, teachers and friends. They can also register to compete in up to three Fiero Code Challenges each year and submit their projects for a chance to win prizes.
Join us for Code Club at the library every Wednesday at 6pm in the Shipman Room. Best for kids in 3rd grade and up. No coding expertise necessary & Drop-ins Welcome! No Pre-Registration required.
Our Club also offer CodeMonkey suitable for younger coders — CodeMonkey offers a variety of courses that teach not only block-based coding but also text-based coding, so kids learn to program like a real developer. The courses have a range of skill levels, so we will be able to accommodate all kids’ experience levels.
Get ready to blast off into creativity! Our library is hosting the Cosmic Art Gallery coding competition from June 1 – July 31. Show off your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills by building a gallery website that showcases photos and artwork of stars and planets. This free, online challenge ties in perfectly with the “Color Our World” theme. Ready to launch? Enroll now with the Fiero Code and enter the contest starting June 1 and start coding toward the stars!
