Individual Volunteers
Volunteering at the library is a fun and fulfilling way to give back to your community, and complete service requirements for such organizations as National Honors Society, Technical National Honor Society, BSA Scouts, or Girl Scouts. We also work with some individuals to help fulllfill court mandated service hours.
What does volunteering at the library involve?
- Assisting with event set up and clean up
- Preparing materials for programs or Take Home activities
- Taking pictures at library events (camera provided)
- Count participants
- Help with demonstrations
- Engage patrons during game programs
- Monitor and restock refreshments as needed
- Collection inventory and maintenance
Any Michigan resident above the age of 13 (or entering 7th grade) is welcome to contact us about volunteering. Those above the age of 18 are required to submit to a background check. We take the safety of our staff and patrons seriously and will exercise judgement regarding which volunteers we accept to ensure that the library remains a safe space for the whole community. Please refer to our Volunteers Policy for complete details.
To begin volunteering, please print off our Volunteer Information Form and return it to the library or email it to admin@gladl.org
